Joy is a writer whose poems are published in several literary magazines including The North, Iota, and Dream Catcher.

Shortlisted for the Cinnamon Press Poetry pamphlet competition in 2017, her poems have been anthologised in Invisible Zoos, and Peterloo Poets, both 2019; Writing the Cathedral (2014) and Best of Manchester Poets (2013). Her first novel was shortlisted by North West Arts.

She is currently Writer-in -Residence at Burnage Library, running its monthly Writers Group. She co-runs Manchester Stanza group at Manchester Central Library.

Most recently she had work on Orbis 193, 2020.
